Human Development Foundation (HDF) is a company limited by guarantee and licensed under Section 26 of the Companies Act, 1913. It was registered as a non-profit social welfare organization by the Registrar of the Joint Stock Companies of Bangladesh on 29th November 1993. From the very beginning, HDF has worked to promote the welfare of the poor and assist distressed communities through social welfare, especially in education.

Human Development Foundation is deeply saddened by the recent demises of its former Honorary Chairmen: Major General (Retd.) Prof. Dr. A. R. Khan, Kazi Fazlur Rahman, and Dr. Hamida Akhtar Begum. We remember their leadership and contributions to education, public service and social welfare with deep gratitude.
Major General (Retd.) Prof. Dr. A. R. Khan (1926–2026)
HDF Board Member from 1997 to 2012 and Chairman from 2012 to 2023. A distinguished physician and former caretaker government adviser, he made lasting contributions to medicine and humanitarian service.
Kazi Fazlur Rahman (1932–2025)
An eminent educationist, administrator and social worker, he was one of HDF’s original sponsor members and served as Chairman from 2003 to 2016.
Dr. Hamida Akhtar Begum (1941–2025)
A distinguished psychologist, scholar and founding sponsor member of HDF, she served as Chairperson from 2023 to 2026 and Honorary Treasurer for over two decades.
